1 killed, 8 injured in Bangkok shooting

Four gunmen on two motorcycles opened fire at group of teenagers, killing one and injuring eight other late Saturday night.

Police said the shooting occurred at the mouth of Soi Thirdthai 56 at 20 minutes after midnight.

Police quoted eyewitnesses as saying that four men arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire at the teenagers who were hanging out there.

Juraiporn Lakphet, 23, was shot at the right side of her body and died at the scene.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.

The teenagers told police that two weeks ago gunmen also opened fire at them but no one was injured.

Sad to hear a 23 yr old girl died at the scene. I expect a couple of others in that group maybe close to death as well. Gangland wars in Bangkok - Drugs The cause or just random killing like what is happening in America ?? SAD SAD WORLD !!

Sounds like LA or Atlanta.....now they are even emulating the bad boyz........I hope that they can nip it before it gets outta hand like it is in American cities. So little respect for Life.......

How many of the "teenagers" are in their 20's? A little odd for 20 somethings to be hanging out night after night on street corners. In the US it'd be a 99% chance they're selling drugs.

In all fairness the report does not mention a street corner, it mentions the mouth so I can see where you assumption comes from, however it is just as possible they were sitting at a food stall or coffee stall with their friends, lets not tarnish them as drug dealers based on a couple of lines in the Nation that gives no real information

Very sad. I hope there is some update as to what brought this about.
