I've posted a similar topic in the Eastern Thailand forum but it might get more response here.

I live in Ban Chang and I'm interested in learning to play golf as there are many courses around me. I would like advice on the best way to go about learning and any recommendations for coaches or routes to leaning in this area.

Thanks.

Oh dear, you have my commiserations! But if you are sure you want to embark on this game, then getting a series of lessons right from the outset could be a good call. Make sure it's in easy to understand english. Get a thai pro rather than farang if you can, your pockets won't be quite so emptied.

And, keep your head down when making the stroke. Simple simple advice, but unbelievably hard to do. Don't hit the ball, hit through it.

And, number one: enjoy it.

Sorry, don't live there, so no specific recommendations.

Try Eastern Star and ask for Jas. She will help you out. You won't need many lessons, but plenty of practice..! :)

Do avoid Green Valley. I stopped playing there since the course was in poor condition, everything is super expensive ( can of Singha for 70 THB ), most of the showers don't work and during the high season you can't move for Korean ladies playing 6 balls at a funeral pace. Unfortunately I am a member there. IMO a month ago it was way behind standards set by UK municipals.

I second the advice on Jas. Have know her for a long time. Very patient lady :D

Sorry to hear about Gr Valley. Here in CM, new owners-Summit Group-they are trying :) . Had planned to come to Pats to play GV there this month. Guess I will avoid it.
