robsamui Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 I've been going hairless with not being able to find out how to set up GPRS for these cheap imports and/or phone brands that AIS can't send automatic settings for. The most frustrating thing is the order of how you do things - which settings to create first, and how to progress through the set up. After weeks of messing - I've finally sorted it, and if you follow the steps below, then it'll all work sweetly. Although please note that some of the cheaper phones can't handle Java script and, for instance, Gmail or iGoogle will return a script error. To send MMS, you'll need to fiddle a bit, as with the existing GPRS settings, MMS messages will get to 90-odd percent and then fail. (See the notes below.) =============================================================================== Set up for AIS First: 1.Main menu --> Select Services 2.Select Data Account --> Select GPRS 3.Select the first entry 4.Edit the account name to AIS-WAP (the actual name is not vital) 5.Edit APN to wap (lower case) 6.Leave Username blank 7.Leave Password blank 8.Edit Auth Type. to Normal 9.Save Select Back --> Select Back (etc) Second: Select WAP 1.Select Settings --> Edit Profile 2.Select the first entry --> Edit Profile 3.edit the name to AIS-GPRS-WAP 4.Edit Homepage to http://wap.mobilelife.co.th 5.Edit Data Account to select the account and name you established in the First Step - AIS-WAP 6.Edit Connection type to HTTP 7.The IP address is 203.170.229.034 (or just 34 if you can) and the port number is 8080 (When you select ‘connection oriented’ or ‘HTTP’ on China phones and/or switch between the two, then the IP address appears – otherwise it remains hidden.) 8.Leave Username blank 9.Leave Password blank Select back or done Select Activate Account Third: To set up MMS: create a second, separate GPRS account 1.Main menu --> Select Services 2.Select Data Account --> Select GPRS 3.Select the second account slot 4.Edit the account name to AIS-MMS (the actual name is not vital) 5.Edit APN to multimedia (lower case) 6.Leave Username blank 7.Leave Password blank 8.Edit Auth Type. to Normal 9. Save Select Back --> Select Back TO SEND MMS, YOU MUST FIRST CHANGE TO, SELECT AND ACTIVATE THE 'AIS-MMS' PROFILE - ie, you can't do it via the existing web-browsing GPRS 'AIS-WAP' selection (in the ‘first step’) that is usually in place. ================================================================================
robsamui Posted August 28, 2009 Author Posted August 28, 2009 ps ..... Try sending MMS without setting up the 'AIS-MMS' account (third step.) I've just tried this on a new phone and it went through OK. (To test, send a simple MMS to 99099, and AIS will send you a reply if it's working.) R
