Why be heavy handed about this? What's the pointing of closing a discussion? Who is the moderator concerned? If he is sure of his convictions, why not come out and say so publicly? Make a public statement. Notify the poster. Give reasons. Invite discussion.

What is the 'risk' in question? This forum has posted hundreds of missing person notices in recent months. What is so risky about the post in question? Wouldn't it be a good idea to discuss it in a polite and intelligent fashion, rather than censoring it? If there is something risky in the post, we would all be the wiser.

Discussion of moderation issues, actions or moderation policies concerning individual cases are not allowed in the forums. Such comments should be directed to a moderator or administrator, and not discussed on the forum.

This forum has been around for quite a few years now, and one reason it is so successful is the work of the mods.

Keeping the forums organized, civilized and censored (when required) has kept this place from deteriorating into a flamers paradise.

Thanks for your input all. Goatfarmer, I did give you a sensible suggestion, and if you're legit it should work for you. I will now close this, then I'll go rest my heavy hand.
