Problems With "Back To" Button On IE8

Recommended Posts

Today, I have noticed that the "Back To" button on Internet Explorer 8 usually takes 3 - 8 times for it to return me back to the previous thaivisa.com webpage. I noticed that it is attempting to take me back to links such as http://static.thaivisa.com/forum/style_images/...

What's going on? Any else having this problem? It is getting extremely annoying.

I understand that Microsoft Internet Explorer does not conform with HTML standard but is geared towards websites that are coded with proprietary programs of Microsoft creating non-standard websites.

Regarding topic titles, it is a quirk of the underlying forum software that each word gets capitalised and only the first letter is retained as a capital letter. It can be annoying, I know. I am now going to edit your topic title to show correctly IE8.

Thank you for fixing the title.

I can confirm that Mozilla Firefox doesn't have this problem. Nevertheless, Internet Explorer is my preferred browser as I'm sure it is what a significant number of members use and this problem only started happening today (US time). I didn't have this problem as late as last night (again US time). I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem or not. And since I use a different machine at night, I don't know if my home computer will have the same problem. It would be good for me to know if others are having this same problem or not.

Do not use the back button on forum pages. Use the navigation links instead.

Unfotunately, using navigation links is not the same as using the back button. Using the back button reverts the previous page to exactly where I scrolled to last. The navigation links force me to scroll all the way to where the links are and then the page they link to is displayed as if it was the first time I viewed that page. For me this is a significant change to the way I normally browse web pages.

Same problem here with the back button on IE6.

One other thing I've noticed since yesterday is that when I first click on a topic link in the new topic notification e-mail the site opens and then I hear 3-4 clicks through the speakers. This usually indicates some re-direct or that Google toolbar has blocked some pop-ups (not sure if this is the case here though).

Same problem here with IE7 , I think it has something to do with ads.google.com , linking to the pages.

It started 2 days ago , you have to click 5 times on the back button to get to the previous page , very annoying.... :)

It is not only within posts but also within "My Controls" for example. The Back Button links to ....static/thaivisa.com..... but only a blank (white) window shows up!

PLEASE admin correct this ASAP! It is most annoying!

Could it be admin is experimenting with ways how to push more ads on us users?

Happened to me earlier (the white screen thing) when I voted on a poll. Refreshing the page didn't fix it, had to close Firefox and re-open it, then navigate again to the topic with the poll, only to find that poll was showing the results instead of the options, usually an indication that your vote has been cast already. But I had no way of telling if this was the case, or indeed if my correct vote had been cast (although, in all likelihood, I think the vote was probably made correctly).

Now I see what the OP means. I checked it out on my computer – PC with Windows Vista – and don’t have this problem with Firefox 3.0.5 but have it with IE8 and can understand that it must be annoying. Three clicks – sometimes only two – on the back button are necessary. In my case, with IE8 the forward button is not working at all with IE8 on the ThaiVisa site.

That is correct folks it happens on CNN, The Age and other News sites that I visit due to the fact that I have 'Blocked the Pop-ups'. :D So really it is not a ThaiVisa problem is it :)

Using both IE6 at work and IE7 on me lap-top.

So please note 'gennisis' post. Thank you and take care of your computer, I do :D

Don't too be lazy. :D

The back button works for me on CNN, but still will not on TV, even with pop up blocker off. It just might be a IE8 problem not working with TV as an update by MS a couple of days ago.
