Sorry to be a nuisance (as I'm sure this has been posted before) but i have searched the internet/ checked these forums with no luck.

I am living in Phuket and would like to get into teaching English. Next year i will be doing my PGCE (UK Teacher training) and feel it would be valuable experience teaching out here. Although i do have a degree, i do not hav a TEFL. Will this be a major issue or are TEFL's justa preference.

Also (and this was the main point of my post), is there a list of the schools in Phuket anywhere. I have ltle knowledge of the area and google has heped me find one or two but i annot find more. Could anyone help?

Thanks

If you are getting the British equivalent of a Bachelor's in Education, you do not need a TEFL. You don't need one anyway. It will not hurt you, however.

I am sorry, but we don't have a current list of schools. Hopefully someone from Phuket can either point us in the right direction.

If you google "list of schools in phuket" you will get a variety of sites with some of the schools here.

Get a TEFL here, as part of the teaching curriculum for teachers is Thai culture and dos and don't s about teaching locally.

Slowly, some of the govt schools are getting their websites up, so it is hit and miss with regards to contacting them. They also prefer that you walk in.
