Changing Owners Name On Car Reg. Book, & Insurance

Featured Replies

Would appreciate some advice please from members on changing owners name and also changing the name on the insurance. Here's the overview:

- Car blue registration book and Insurance currently in my name (farang)

- Want to change both to my adult Thai son's name.

- Both items due for renewal about 12 days from now.

- Car is now a little older and needs annual inspection certificate before the reg. can be renewed, but car is in excellent order and don't see this as a problem.

- Car is registered in Chonburi province.

- Son's name is recorded on Tabien Baan for his house in Chonburi city.

So, how do we proceed?

Would appreciate any advice members can share.

(Please, no comments about losing control of my assets etc.)

Thanks.

have car inspected

Your son need to bring his thai id card, and in some provinces Tabien Baan.

You need original passport and "Certificate of Residence" in some provinces, normally issued by immigration.

Insurance expires automaticly, and new insurance is purchased in your sons name before transfer

As you can see, not complicated at all. :)
