I met a Spanish Paeleantologist when I was at the labour office. He is working on a project in Isaan from one of the large Unis.

He told me that BP are maybe starting some operations here.

Said it was all top secret.

I know better thanto believe strangers here in thailand all the time.

Does anyone know about this.

I used to work for BP in Scotland.

I think it would be more productive searching for water here at the moment.

But no, I haven't heard of it. BTW, there is no such thing as "top secret" oil exploration.

I heard a rumour of a big gas-fired power station to be built somewhere in the North-East soon... maybe gas, not oil?

Probably it's only a 'secret' as in "Let's not tell the poor farmers they're sitting on a fortune. We can't be paying out billions to too many Jed Clampetts now can we?"

:o

Take a look at the prosperity of the villagers who live amid the Queen Sirikit oilfields in Phitsanulok. You won't see any buffalo with gold-plated horns up there.

:D

Are there not large deposits of snail shells in some part of Isaan which would suggest that at one time there was a sea bed.
