Road To Surin

Featured Replies

Which is the best and/or quickest route to Surin from northern Isaan (Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen)? Plan on taking Highway 2 south to Phimai, then Highway 2163, then Highway 226 east to Surin. Have not travelled on 2163 nor 226 before. How are these roads? Thanks in advance.

Take 202 east off of 2 at Ban Mai, take 202 east to Phayakkaphun Phiss, take 219 south to Satuek, pick up 2378 east to Chom Prhra and pick up 214 south to Surin. Say hello for me at The Farang Connection. I take this rout all the time from Chiang Mai. Roads are good and there are petro stations. Watch out for the cows. :)

Actually you do...............there is always a group of Volunteers from Starfish in town, and most of them party in the FC. ( but only in the evenings) I agree with the routs given. When we come back from Chayaphum we use the same route. After you leave the 2 road to come cross country, on the first major cross roads there is a good restaurant that does a good steak for around 60-80 baht.
