Yes, my SO and I are going down Saturday night. A great suggestion.

Make sure that you're either on Ratchadamnoen or somewhere with a good view of it at 8PM. This is when I've heard that the fireworks are happening today. As well, I warn you that it will be packed there, and difficult to find parking, so if you're coming from downtown, take a taxi or bus (bus is probably better, it won't cost you more to sit in traffic, unlike a taxi. You can find bus routes on Google maps now too).
