New Restaurant In Ubon

Featured Replies

Sampled the delights at this barely one month old restaurant last night ... excellent. Food very much of the Saeb Soi 9 standard.

Name of the restaurant is RUEN LALITA.

To get there go past Ubon Rak Hospital heading south towards Warin, cross the Mun River Bridge and just before the second bridge over the tributary there is a sign for HAPPY HOUSE to the left. Take this left fork and follow for a couple of hundred metres to a "T" junction. Turn right and immediately after going under the bridge turn right again into the restaurant.

Very open, the kids can run riot safely, great views and it is managed by a very affable and welcoming manager named "George", a fluent English speaker having worked in Chalong for years.

This is now a regular.

Enjoy.

Nice review, I will take the kids there for sure. Thanks.

Thanks for the info Patriot, will give it a try.

Cheers,

Mike

Please Mike, don't bring any mad bakers, my wife is still in shock from last week :):D

  • 2 weeks later...

Our favourite seafood place on the lake was closed last night so thought we would check this place out. It was as Patriot said a very nice place to relax as well as bring kids. As we had four of them it made for a enjoyable evening watching the sun set while the kids played and we ate.

We all agreed that the food wasn't as good as the other place that we like (prices were the same) but the atmosphere made up for it.

The service was good and the Manager (I thought he was called Josh) would certainly makes things easy if you didn't speak any Thai. (Menu is all in Thai).

Although my wife said she would not come back to eat I decided then and there that it would be a place that I would bring visiting westerners again.

4 adults with no beers = 960 baht.

^ well thats what I was going to write and this is still exactly what happened however I have been up all night visiting the toilet with an upset stomach. I remember hearing the toilet upstairs getting a work out as well and sure enough found out just now that the visiting SIL also got food poisoning. Not to serious thankfully but enough to be a pain in the butt (pun intended!)

I still like to think I will go back for a sun downer but next time will stick to the fried rice or something!

Nice review MeMock - sorry about your butt. :)

yeah so was I - all ok now but (hehe) so can't have been too bad.

I hear that one of my regulars visited you over the weekend. Hope you looked after her!

We tried our best, and think she enjoyed herself.................. :)

Another absolute gem of a "western" style restaurant in Ubon is MING SUPARN (or Granpa's) in Charoenrat Road up near the airport. Small portioned, but really tasty grub.
