alright chaps

last year i was in bkk i got the usual 3 extensions to my tourist visa. 30 days 14 days and then a final 7 days. however this year in koh samui i recieved 30 days and then a final 20 day extension which saved me 1900 baht.

maybe it was because i dressed smartly and had all my documents in order that the immigration officer took a shine to me because the place was crawling with half dressed tattoed scrubbers who had no photocopies or photographs.

was the extension at his discretion or are the rules different in koh samui ?

Only others can answer if they received the same treatment but any extension is at the discretion of immigration and the only almost sure thing is the 30 days first extension. Your appearance probably did not have a negative effect.
