NEW DELHI -- Honda Motor Co. Ltd. expects to launch a small car in India and Thailand by 2011, its executive vice president and representative director said Tuesday at the Auto Expo.

"We are delighted to unveil the Honda new small concept (car). The new model based on this concept car will be a global car with features to suit the needs of Indian customers," said Koichi Kondo.

Honda Motor will join other global auto makers, which are keen to tap into the budget-conscious Indian customers' demand for such compact cars.

In India, Honda Motor operates as Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., a joint venture with an Indian business conglomerate Siddharth Shriram Group.
