it's not Flying's fault! my sister saw them, i told Flying and he called my sister to verify what kind of celebrations she saw.

Was that your sister in law? Truly is a small world isn't it? :)

What Is A Patriot? :D

On a scale from 1 to 4, the USA is in the lead what Patriotism by country is concerned with 3,74 points in the first survey (1990-1992) and 3,92 in the second survey (1995-1997; so Patriotism was growing with almost 5% and will likely go beyond the possible 4.0 line very soon :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriotism#Pa...tism_by_country

But it doesn't say much yet HOW the citizen of those various countries look upon the definition of "What is a Patriot"

Note: or am I, not being American, not allowed to write something is this mainly "Americanized" thread ? :D

LaoPo

Survey data 13-20 years old? I guess not much has happened since then that could change the numbers drastically. :D

And 9/11 is not much what could have influenced American Patriotism ? :D

That's the point. Why even bother to show such old data when so much has changed.

Very interesting. Nine of the 10 least patriotic are not only European countries, but 7 of them share borders with one another but the other two are close (France, Switzerland, West Germany, East Germany, Czech, Slovakia, & Poland). The rest are Latvia, Sweden & Taiwan.

By contrast, the most patriotic are spread out across the globe - USA, Canada, Venezuela, South Africa, Israel, Chile, Austria, Oz, New Zealand, The Philippines.

That's very interesting and I just looked at the LEAST Patriotic country.

Well, I don't know but I saw Sweden to be at # 3 as the least Patriotic countries.

I don't know about you guys but if anyone has ever been to Sweden there's no other country in the world, including the US, (where I have been to) that have so many proud people as the Swedes.

On every other house the Swedish flag is proudly shown. I've never been to any country where one sees so many country flags as Sweden.

I have a Swedish friend who is so unbelievably proud of his country it's almost amazing.

Also, there are quite a few important and very world famous companies like IKEA, VOLVO (Penta), SAAB (cars, just taken over by a Dutch company from GM), H&M fashion, SKF and many more.

It's a sparse populated but large country with less than 10 million people!

I'm puzzled. :)

Remember the debate over the lapel flag pin in the US presidential election?

I think the rest of the world were a bit bemused over that one. :)

It is puzzling, you're right. One of my Swedish friends won't shut up about how great Sweden is. And when hockey is the subject, there probably isn't a more patriotic country on the planet.

I'm surprised the UK isn't on the Least list. Most Brits I know seem to be fed up with their country. Of course, I guess the survey wasn't taken down at the bars on Koh Samui. :D

Or realistically, the rest of the world were/are indifferent because of their simple vacancy from these info circles. Rather culturally-centred, yes?

So you really didn't see all these Texans dancing around frivolously celebrating the death of Federal agents. You were simply using your witty sense of humor to bait UG. Now I see.

Perhaps next time you can refrain from weak attempts at sarcasm and merely state the facts. If you didn't actually see it, simply so state.

sigh............Your usual....Take a simple statement & turn it into something else

If this isn't the pot calling the kettle black - Here you are lecturing him on doing exactly what you do. What a bunch of malarkey!

All that aside I remember hearing about quite a few Texans cheering when the ATF got their butts kicked initially in a fair fight down in Waco.

Mr. Flying:

This was your original statement for which I requested you provide a link.

If you only examine your statement logically, you will note that what you said was you "remember hearing about" some Texans cheering. When you claim you "heard" about it, that would indicate you had a source to provide us in order for us to "hear" the same information.

I asked for that source and you referred me to the Internet and basically told me to find it myself. I tried and could not find any source for your statement.

Now your original statement has morphed into this, and I quote, from your post of 27 January 2010 at 23:22:14:

"I did see Texans who thought it was correct that the ATF initially got their butts kicked in a fair fight due to their unlawful entry & lack of proper process......& it was not meant as wit or bait."

You have, therefore, changed your story from "hearing about some Texans cheering" to "did see Texans who thought it was correct".

It seems we have gone from "cheering" Texans to "thoughtful" ones. I would say that is a significant difference.

Now that you have changed the wording, I can only say if you had simply said in your first post what you said in the last one, this discussion would never have had to take place.

Another one who knows how the other homogeneous 6.4 billion people on the planet think and feel.

Boy..........Lets try this one last time to help clear this misunderstanding of what I said...I can see that you will not sleep if you do not clearly understand....Although I will not promise that you will Get it even now but here goes............

Yes Chuck See & heard yes plural yes both...I thought I may have already mentioned I saw this on TV. As the air waves was quite filled with the whole siege on Waco at the time it was happening.

You may even remember that it lasted something like 50 days...maybe more....please do not ask or nit pack that too...

Anyway yes as I said it was at that time that I saw AND heard due to this relatively new technology called Television aka:TV

Let me try to recount what I remember & this is from memory only to help your poor dilemma over how important this is to your well being.... There was one man who said roughly...They got what they deserved & if they had come into my home the way they went in there I would have done the same.

Another was a lady who said she knew some of the folks there & if all this was over some violation then why did they not just pick him up when he jogged each & every day.

Another man said pretty much the same as the 1st man & also added something similar to what the lady said.. That was D Koresh & some of the others there were constant figures at the local gun shows as both buyers & seller & if the ATF had a gripe why not just approach him there rather than do what they did & it served them right if they were welcomed with hostilities since that is what they knocked with.

Let me add again for your meager clarity that I have shot competitively for many decades so am also a life member of the NRA so I also got to read much about the illegal trumped up charges for AR-15 full auto lowers & I also recall something about a BMG 50. But so what???

So all that aside lets talk about your current obsession with minutia chuck............... I mean we have gone this far lets try & cure you shall we?

1) All this started because that other one called UG stated something about his sister hearing something which basically was to be translated as cheering for the 9-11 attack & in not so thinly veiled posts that was suppose to somehow justify the US Military Industrial Complex & all they have done now & since then.........

2) My statement on the other hand was made to show that hearing something does not in any was excuse something else.

Go back & read again the context in which it was used.........

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Patriot-t329...86#entry3294586

Does that make the Texans evil? Or just a bit of cheer leading against what they perceive to be bullies getting some?

I hope that helps with your condition that requires you to dissect minutia & take a topic into the twilight zone.

If not...TS

Mr. Flying:

The matter is closed from my standpoint. You have shown your true colors to me.

Nothing else needs to be said, unless you continue trying to intimate I am somewhat lower on the scale of intelligence than the common snail.

Fine by me chuck just know the matter was only opened by you alone....

When you quoted one line taken from my post...

And said......

Do you have anything to support your claim?

I honestly thought you were just being facetious ...because how could someone not see the intent of the whole post.

As to anyone implying any degree of lowness on your part...again it is yours alone to decide as to how low you will stoop with these baiting type posts. But if you play it with me expect a response.

What is a patriot?

A sudden and violent uprising of Irish men.

A little harsh I might add

My apologies, Moss. If it helps, I only have positive prejudice about the Irish.

2) My statement on the other hand was made to show that hearing something does not in any was excuse something else.

Or to justify terrorism, if you want to get really truthful about it. :)

Not sure what your damage is but it is probably linked to grazing at one too many breakfast buffets....

but here try read the actual reason again...........

Does that make the Texans evil? Or just a bit of cheer leading against what they perceive to be bullies getting some?

Then take the time to actually post one just one useful post that has a grain of insight other than the usual illiteracy .... I for one would be floored.

If not then head on over to your ahan glanwan

I'm afraid that not gaining any insight from my posts is your problem - not mine. Some people quite like them. :)

yep. she also told me you made a pass at her by offering to show her your collection of gold and platinum coins you are hiding in your basement. quite an inappropriate behaviour... ah sez! :)

Well that is only partially true as I do not have a basement :D

then it must have been your dark attic :)

No worries, I wasn't taking offence as over a period of 900 hundred years continued brave but ultimately forlorn uprisings have taken place, so your term is not in itself, incorrect :D

Now can you fix bayonets and get amongst the squabbles above and bash their heads together :)
