Hi, getting married soon and need to know particulars on obtaining a multi-entry marriage visa in the region. I'm going to Vientiane on holiday next month for 4 days. Can I scoop one up there? If so, what docs would I need? How about Penang, same questions? If only single in both places, what docs are needed for each? Not really interested in going to KL or elsewhere, just info on these 2 places would be great. Thanks a lot

KL will require a bank account of 100k to issue from latest report. Others are likely to only issue single entry expecting you to extend your stay on basis of employment at 40k per month or savingings of 400k. All will require copy of marriage certificate and wife ID card.

My experience , You can not get Multi. in Vientiane (only single provided no need book bank never asked)

You can in KL (Please prepared 100K in you book bank "Seriously") a bit strick on book bank!!!

I never try in Penang (I have heard more strick than KL)

For a document very simply prepared

Copy of your passport (And original)

Copy of your Thai wife ID card

Copy of your Thai wife passport

Copy of marriaged certificated

Prepared the original if you can incase but for us they did not asked to see

Your picture 4" x 6" (They only take 1 from us but pls prepared at least 2)

Anyhow if you could prepared for those document for my suggestion go to KL if compared you have to go to Vientiane and you can not get a Multi. so not a good idea to go and also KL is quiet nice town some more thing to see and do there if you book a flight with Air asia in advance i bet you can get a good price hope this's help.

does the 100K have to be in a thai bank account? i have sufficient funds in my offshore accounts but it seems a little silly to open a thai bank account, transfer the money across, when i'm not planning to live in thailand full time (but will be making many trips in and out this coming year )

can i just take copies of my bank statements along with the other documents?

What visa are you intending to apply for? The 100k in Thai bank account at KL is required to issue Non-O visa for marriage to Thai/having Thai child which would be used for living expenses.

Dec 28th Penang were issuing 1 year Multi.

Marriage cert, copy wifes ID and housebook and birth cert if you have kids with her. Approx 200k in bank account Thai or Foreign.

2x pp size photos. Many places in Chulia Street, Banana Guest house are good and only charge 50 baht, and do all the photo copying for you. If you want the same day they can do for an extra 1,000 Baht. Google them and get the number and contact them...their rooms are cheap and clean also, very friendly and efficient.

Phomn Phen will do the same but do not require funds in any bank however they take 3 working days. Again you can google the Embassy in Phomn Phen and call to check
