Help Needed

Featured Replies

Hi there -

Needed: a supplier/maker of good quality heavy-duty sliding aluminium mosquito screen doors and windows anywhere in Nonthaburi or northern Bangkok.

Any help and info in advanced is greatly appreciated.

am also checking out those sliding doors, am also in Non,

My wife says there is a shop in Prachaniwet 3, if you know the area.

To get to it you drive down Ngamwongwan from Rattantibeth, then take the Ngamwongwan 23 turning follow this road

as it twists and turns, you come into an area with a lot of shops and market stalls (about 2.6kms) there should be shop

around there. Alternatively go along Tiwanon, turn into Samakhi, go straight on through the first set of lights, after another

1.5kms there is a second set of lights, you should turn right here, there is a school on your left after the turn, this is

Prachaniwet 3, just a case of keeping your eyes peeled I am afraid to say.

Try yellow pages

In the interim, I've been getting eaten alive by small silent mosquitoes day and night, even in the mornings around my legs and between my toes as I sit here at this desk typing away in bare feet and shorts in my hotel room in a relatively coastal sort of location, although there's probably still a lot of stagnant fresh water between here on Sukhumvit in Ban Chang and Pala Beach.

So this afternoon I was fed up with it! ABSOLUTELY BITTEN TO MY WIT'S END, I TELL YOU!

So I lit up one of those mosquito coils that I bought from Teco Lotus for 18 baht a pack of 20, that I usually just take along with me to restaurants at night in case of un-wanted dining guests, and after fabricating a nice little stand out of a beer can, placed it in the bathroom to smoke those little blighters out of my bloody room!

Now the incessant biting and stings are gone at last, although it's not easy to breathe in this closed room for all the smoke from the mozzie coils. There's a kind of moderation required, but if the mozzies are getting through your windows, then try one of those packs of mozzie coils, even during the day, as long as you have the right amount of air mixture for the humans to stay alive.

My feet feel wonderful now for the first afternoon in a week. Those blasted mozzies are gone! All for 18 baht's worth of coils in the bathroom smoking away on an empty can of Chang.

This isn't too far from me and I am fairly familiar with the area, I'll go and check it out on the weekend. If I am successful I'll let you know and give you all the details as well.

I have had two sets of screens already. with very wobbly frames and the very thin nedding - easily damaged/destroyed by an over enthusiastic maid keeping them clean. I saw what I really want in the wards of the Army Hospital in Udon Thani - more solid frames and strong rolling sliders and much thicker nedding than one is usually offered around here.

Hi beano -

Sorry, I was unable to find the screen maker.

I followed Ngam Wong Wan 23 and realised that Prachaniwet 3 covers about a square mile or so.

I'll have another go shortly and update here.
