Visa Info Needed For Farang Girl With Thai Partner

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'd be grateful for any info anyone could supply on my situation. My boyfriend is Thai and we have a seven month old daughter. At the moment i'm in the UK, but we're hoping to have a long visit to see if it's possible for us to stay there. My boyfriend came to England when our daughter was born, but didn't really like it and so said he'd prefer to live in Thailand, which i have to say i would too. As i'm referring to him as my boyfriend, you can see we're not married and really don't want to get married either. So my questions are, am i eligable for an O type visa? How much money do we need in the bank? What visa should i get for my daughter? Is it risky to get her a Thai passport? Basically any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

First as you may know already Thailand does not recognise boyfriend/girlfriend relationships in relation to visa's.

However you may be able to obtain a Non Imm O multiple entry based upon visiting family and friends from the Royal Thai Consulate in Hull (further details available from their website).

Forget about money in the bank as it has no bearing on the issuing of the above visa............money is only an issue when you are married and seeking 1 year extension of stay stamp.

Regards passport for your daughter i/ll let someone else answer.......but my feeling is if your boyfriends name is on the birth certificate then she will be entitled to a Thai passport.......i cant see any downside in her having one.

Anybody else?

Edit...........the Hull website appears to be down at the moment, you could always give them a ring they're very helpful.
