Hello! we are moving to Phuket in June... and basically we're seeking any helpful info from anyone! jobs or accomodation....

my boyfriend will be working for a scuba diving company, and i will be looking for work (we are both New Zelanders).

How difficult is it to find a non-teaching job in Phuket?

How much can we expect to pay for cheap, long-term accomodation?

Do you recommend anyone/anywhere for accomodation?

I'm also interested in volunteer work.. do you no anyone I could contact for this?

We really need another diver in Phuket, just like an Indian tailor or Mobile Phone shop.

But seriously, what sort of visa do you have or plan to get.....this will affect your ability to work, live here, etc.

Price of accomodation will vary according to location and standard. Hard to say really. You will probably stay somewhere close to your boyfriend's work, so presumably Patong or Kata.

Be aware that even for volunteer work, you are supposed to have a work permit. Either the Life Home Project or Child Watch Phuket may be able to advise you on this.

GOLDENBEAD.... I have been teaching english, was hoping to do something different this time, qualified in conservation/botany/hospitality/ecology/community realtions etc so really anything! If not, I will try and get teaching work. Is it really difficult for expats to work (if not a diver!)? thanks for the info for volunteering
