I Like Farang Women Because...

Featured Replies

The Living Dolls thread got me to thinking, what is it I like about farang chicks?

* you can have a real conversation with them.

* they can have a good job and support the guy for a change. :)

* less cultural misunderstandings.

Excuse me for asking....but, what is a real conversation? :)

I really enjoy talking to many of them and many times we are interested in the same stuff.

The other thing is that the few who actually like me appreciate me for what I really am and see something besides a walking ATM with a hardon. :)

Because i am one... to answer your question.

I like being me, red hair and all

As I replied to Boo, I like all women: young, old, big or small, providing they are interesting. Where they come from doesn't matter. I think you can learn something from everyone. However, it's pretty hard to like someone who you can't hold a conversation with. They might be visually attractive, but if you can't speak then it's hard to progress to anything else. Sign language only goes so far. She might be some Swedish super model, but if she can't speak English and I can't speak Swedish then that is as far as it gets.

I've met some incredibly boring people in my life, but most often (but not always) the people who do a lot of traveling to foreign countries are more interesting than those who grew up in one city and never left it. I've got a few funny and related stories, but I'll leave them for now.

Have had my share of relationships with Falang women

But will say I have all of the above traits with my Thai wife + #2 was never a possibility with the Falangs I was with.

But is with my current Thai wife :) Not that it need be as I still earn.

Also as an aside.... I have less cultural differences with my wife.

After all, Falang as commonly described ( western/euro english speaking ) could also be from many countries

I agree with this.  Almost to a person, the foreign women I meet overseas, and here in Thailand this holds true, are intelligent, interesting people with whom I like to communicate and spend time.

I'm not sure what has gotten into my buddy sceadugenda today, but I think that he is a little out of sorts. My impression is that this thread is to look at the good things about Western women that we usually ignore on this forum. They get bashed in almost every post and many do not have it coming.

I could go on all day about how much I appreciate Thai women, but we do that on a regular basis here. This thread is about being fair to all the Western women that deserve it and there are plenty out there. They are not the enemy.

I have no doubt that sceadugenda's wife is a wonderful woman and she is also a lucky one. She has a good man and that is not the norm around here. However, that does not change the fact that a lot of Western women do not fit any negative stereotypes and deserve respect. It is easy to forget that after living in Thailand for a long time, but I work with tourists and I meet very nice Western women almost every day. :)

I cannot see any other implication in koheesti's post other

:):D I must say you said it much more directly than I did ......

My post was mildly saying the same as yours.

I think I like yours better though :D

Yellow? You hang around the hospital looking for women with jaundice?

Don't you know that's catching?

There is a valid reason for some negativity towards western women on the thaivisa forum. It's because of the preponderous number of expat men in Thailand who have had bad experiences in life with western women, and after they come to Thailand they realize there is a whole new world out there. It doesn't make it right or wrong. The stories are mostly true, but from just one perspective.

It's no different than if a heterosexual person went to a gay party or a gay bar and listened to the conversations. The discussions would relate to a whole new bunch of issues. It's like a bunch of anglers who get together. Don't be surprised if the bulk of conversation revolves around fishing. Has anyone attended a meeting of young parents? It's the same story... the talk will be about babies, diapers and the proper diet formulas.

Everybody take a chill pill please.

You can obviously debate a wide range of subjects in Bedlam, however, getting nasty with your fellow members is not on.

I always found it easier to be with farang women (who spoke English) as friends because I can have better conversations with them due to a deeper understanding culturally, and less language barriers between us. I assume that the same thing would exist between two Thais.

If anything, having good farang female friends makes being married to a Thai easier as it fills a gap in conversation that takes much longer to develop when your spouse's first language is not English, and who grew up in a completely different culture. If they have Thai husbands, the benefits are mutual, as they probably deal with the same issues from time to time.

Excuse me for asking....but, what is a real conversation? :D

a real conversation goes beyond

-you please cook dinner today what i like mak mak?

-me horny to mut, can go bedloom?

-dog neighbour him bark all night. cannot sleep. you talk neighbour make dog silent?

:)

Not possible if you're married to a Thai woman according to the OP. :)

After deliberation between the board moderators, it has been decided this topic is inflamatory and, although Bedlam is more or less self moderated, consensus is to close this one.
