Insurance For Thai Children

Featured Replies

My son who is 6 has just nearly died after being involved in a motorbike accident in Phuket and the subsequent treatment in a Thai hospital. I intend to make sure that if he's ever needs a hospital in future he gets the best treatment. Can any of you guys recommend a good company to get health insurance?

Thanks,

Trevster

I had AIA first but moved all insurance to Allianz.

About the same price but better survice from my experience.

6 years is also a good age, as under 6 years it will be very expensive.

Have a talk with them both and let them make a quotation, so you can compaire both company's by yourself.

If cant read thai, you need to ask for a english speaking sales person/representative.

Good luck,

I have 2 small kids here and likewise looking for a good medical/health insurance provider. I found a few companies i.e.

Bupa Ins & AIA which provide various plans you can choose. There are also other local insurance providers, just search

the website.

As a Thai Visa member we suggest you use the services of the Thai Visa Broker for all your quotations as they deal with all the insurance companies and can offer a comprehensive selection.

I'm also interested for my young granddaughter.

What about health and life and a savings plan.

Inunderstand several banks offer these packages.

HAs anybody researched this appraoch?

Thai Visa Insurance, do you offer anything like this?

I do have health insurance for my Thai son with BUPA, but this was started when he was mid teens. Over the years he has claimed perhaps 6 or 7 times, every time he has gone to the BUPA offfice he has commented on their politemness, their cuustomer first appraoch, they stop and listen to what the customer says, and the reimbursements have arrived quite fast.

All of BUPA's documentation is available in both Thai and English, and they have plenty of English speaking staff who are good listeners, polite, and give clear answers and don't hesitate to share with you additional points which you need to be aware of.

Why not ask at the "Insurance Departments" of the two most famous private hospitals in Phuket? The Thai Hospital staff who actually deal with the insurance companies have first hand knowledge of which health insurance companies pay, and which might not. There might be several native English speaking Insurance BROKERS in Phuket that you can obtain information, price quotes, actual policy details via e-mail fax, postal mail or in person. I have had IN PATIENT health coverage with high limits for my daughter, for two years with Thai Health Insurance Company and for the past three years with BUPA. The annual premium is VERY affordable. This is NOT one of the "savings plans". It would be well worth your time to contact Eric Dohlon of Insurance in Thailand. He can read, write, speak and understand Thai, as well as his native English. In my experience he did not ever attempt to "up sell" and he made it quite clear that "life insurance" policies were a terrible value in Thailand compared to many other Western Nations.
