Thai Driving License - Renewing

Featured Replies

Hi,

I got a one year Thai Motorcycle Driving License - which expires 19 February.

Anybody know the procedures how to renew? How long can I exceed ...?

Live in Bkk.

Come on, Helmut. You've been following the forums long enough to know that's been discussed over and over again. Probably wouldn't need to go more than a page or two back, without even bothering with a search.

Wouldn't have said this if you were a newbie, but hey... I got advice from you! (Thanks again for it.)

Good morning, just did mine yesterday in Bangkok, it's easy.

You need all the documents you originally needed: Passport, Medical Certificate and either a Work Permit (if you're working) or a letter from your Embassy attesting where you live if you're on a Retirement Extention. And of course copies.

I needed two sets of copies - car and motorcycle, so if you ride and drive, you'll need two also. You'll also need to copy the front and back of your current licenses.

Then just show up, give them all the documents, get your picture taken and that's it.

There were no tests or anything. I waited about 5 minutes and they handed me my new licenses.

The cost: Motorcycle - 255 baht for 5 years, the Car 505 baht for 5 years.

By the way, this was for my first "renewal", so I don't know if it's different for a 2nd 5 year renewal.

hope this helps.

Thanks Seeker1953. :D

That helps me a lot. Last time a GF took care about everything. This time I have to do it alone :)
