The minimum minibus fare set by the Chonburi Office for the city is currently 10 baht. But as gas prices continue to drop, a corresponding fare reduction should be considered, the deputy mayor said.

If users are charged the wrong fares by the cooperative, they can call the 1337 Pattaya City Call Center to report it. Disciplinary action can then be taken against offending drivers, such as fines and suspension of the driver’s licenses.

Official minibus fares listed by the Chonburi Transport Office are:

The Charoenrat Pattana-Najomtien Village route:

Charoenrat Pattana-Nipa Lodge Hotel 8 baht

Charoenrat Pattana -Asia Hotel 21 baht

Charoenrat Pattana-Soi Chaiyapruk 29 baht

Nipa Lodge Hotel-Pattaya Market 8 baht

Nipa Lodge Hotel-Asia Hotel 14 baht

Nipa Lodge Hotel-Soi Chaiyapruk 22 baht

The Pattaya Market -Soi Chaiyapruk 15 baht

Asia Hotel-Soi Chaiyapruk 8 baht

The around Pattaya route:

From Banglamung Plaza-Nipa Lodge junction (North Pattaya) 8 baht

Central Pattaya Road Intersection-Somprasong Plaza 8 baht

Central Pattaya Road Intersection-Central Pattaya T-Intersection 17 baht

Somprasong Plaza-Wat Bunkanjanaram 8 baht

Somprasong Plaza-Central Pattaya T-Intersection 12 baht

Wat Bunkanjanaram-Central Pattaya T-Intersection 8 baht

For more fare information please contact the Pattaya Information Desk at 038-253-131-32 or the Pattaya City Call Center at 1337.

Now dont ask me why they mention a minumum of 10 baht then state 8 baht fares, but there is no mention of 5 baht anywhere.

I try not to use this overly expensive System of public transport (its cheaper in Zurich), however when I do, I cant remeber being able to see what the Guy before me did pay, usually they do approach fro the back and put the hand with the money into the driver cabin. no chance to see what he pays for the OP.

Looks like somebody hit him with a hammer :)

First thing is the Songthaews in Pataya are not public transportation in the same sense as Zurich. They are all private contracotrs.

A quick google search shows a single ticket good for 5 stops in 30 minutes cost 2.10 swiss francs, which comes to some 64 baht. Hardly sounds cheaper to me.

TH

As long as you stay on the route Jomtien - Naklua and up the 3 main rds to Sukhumvit you are correct. As soon as you go off the beaten track however, a single ride in Zurich is cheaper. I dont want to start about a month pass back home, and you actually can ride around the town, not just along the main road.

As the Baht Bus Organisation is preventing Pattaya to have a proper Public Transport System I count them as Public Transport. They are more expensive then public transport in Switzerland and insane expensive for a 3. world country like Thailand.

I seriously doubt even the DRIVERS know about this byzantine fare structure. Its absurd. Yes they published it but it means NOTHING.

I agree with you it is absurd and the drivers probably dont know about it. But it does mean that 5 baht is under the published minimum fare so i dont think there is any justification in wanting to pay no more than 5 baht.
