Umm Ahhh not sure what to say about this.

Do you spend most of your time doing searches on the Internet for this stuff or are on some really odd email list, if so what is the details for adding oneself to it?

Let's HOPE it was sent to him... :D

I never have to waste time searching for anything. I'm too busy for that, but I get so many e-mails that I am bound to receive some good ones.

One thing for certain is that site IS only appropriate for Bedlam.

It actually poped up on my facebook as a friend of my joined the Group... and yes they have made a facebook group for this street, but i havent joined yet

Although some medieval street names such as Addle Street (stinking urine, or other liquid filth; mire[18]) and Fetter Lane (once Fewterer, meaning "idle and disorderly person") have survived, others have been changed in deference to contemporary attitudes. Sherborne Lane in London was in 1272–73 known as Shitteborwelane, later <deleted>-burn lane and <deleted>-buruelane (possibly due to nearby cess pits).[19][20] Pissing Alley, one of several identically named streets whose names survived the Great Fire of London,[21] was called Little Friday Street in 1848, before being absorbed into Cannon Street in 1853–54

:)

In Carlisle there is a Dyke Terrace. No way I could i live on a street with that name! Especially seeing as i was a student and sharing a house with a female friend for a while at that time!

Do you reckon houses on streets with names like that are cheaper to buy? :)

I resided at Camp Street in Queensland for a while way back in the 80's........ :)

small things amuse small minds people, small things :)

Many years ago, my dad gave me a book titled, "The Deeper Meaning Of Liff".

It was by John Lloyd and Douglas Adams (of Blackadder repute I think?). It is a "dictionary" based on the premise that there a numerous "things" in life that have no specific name, and that there are numerous place names (particularly in Britain) that go virtually unused....so they have tied up definitions of previously unamed things to names that have existance, but are unused.

For example, one I remember well because I think it should be introduced to our common lexicon is "Huby: That kind of half erection that is enough to be publicly humiliating but is of no use to anyone."

Or that could be the definition of "Humby:..... (I can't recall properly....). Both words had something to do with erections....

Hobbs Cross: The leap-like movements a woman makes to avoid the wet spot on the bed.

Barstibly: One of those '70's cherub statues that were designed to "piss" soda water into your whiskey.

There are Brit place place-names that have now been assigned as definitions for things such as, "the cooling refreshnes on the other side of the pillow.".

I reccomend it as an occassional reference.

That's cute coming from someone who's every other post is drivel :D

Richard Curtis and Ben Elton wrote Blackadder, Dougie was The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, or so "The Triple-Breasted Whore of Eroticon Six", Eccentrica Gallumbits told me. :)

I think someone slipped me a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster last night instead of a beer, tasted like a gold brick wrapped in a slice of lemon. My head felt like someone had hit me with it this morning
