90 day reporting and visa extensions.

I was out for my 90-day reporting today. But here's the thing. My 90-day renewal was due today, but last month I was stamped to check back this Wednesday, the 10th, for my annual visa-renewal results. Well, since I was there for the 90-day bit, I thought I would check on the visa, too. After all, this is only two days early, and back in the Soi Suan Phlu days, I always stopped by some days beforehand with no problem. Uh uh, no more. You must, I repeat MUST, return ON THE DAY STAMPED and no other day. No one would even check on it. This appears to be the new system, helpfully unannounced. Actually, I suppose this will improve efficiency to some extent, because before you had people due on several different days ahead of you. I believe there is something like a 7-day grace period for 90-day reporting, but I would never want to test that, so I would have gone out there today anyway and not waited until Wednesday even if I'd known, but they could have said something before.

Good question

Our office stopped doing all extensons unaanounced about a month ago very inconvenient for some of my elderly and infirm friemnds who now have so long adrive over 15okm that an overnight stop is almost always needed after long delays.

While 90 days ca be posted extension driving letters etc a require visits

90 day reporting and extension of stay are separate functions.

You have to do both.

As always there are exemptions.

I insisted do my 90 day reporting the same day I got my last extension.

Had to have a senior officer come and say that they did it for me already.

Did not fill out he TM.47 thinking.gif

I guess they have some extra service for the 5000 baht in Samui. :)

The reporting times that are indicated in this post must be specific to that Immigration office. I visited the Sakon Nakhon office yesterday to do 90 day address notification a week ahead of due date and also did a retirement VISA extension which was not due until March 15. The whole process took less than 30 minutes to complete and was done in a very friendly and courteous manner.

Not a word about reporting dates and for sure the most pleasant experience I have had in all the 11 years that I have been doing extensions. I won't go into the other 10 years but it does make a difference which office you go to and which officer you happen to have serve you.

Why would you expect a problem? You can report at any office up to 7 days early for 90 day reporting and 30 days early for extension of stay.

A bit off the topic here, but gotta ask. Did you also get a re-entry permit at the same time as the extension. Sure is good "insurance."
