I would like to travel from Pattaya to Kanchanburi. How can I do this? I know that motorcycles are prohibited on the expressway.

How hard can it be ... go around it or ask a taxidriver to guide you through it if road numbers and name´s doesn´t work for you like for most ppl.! :)

I rode from Pattaya to BKK on my Nouvo in 2.5hrs but we were hauling ass at 90kmh+

We took Sukhumvit up to the Bang Na Trat (34) highway.

We stayed on the lower expressway as the elevated tollway is definitely illegal.

It was probably illegal to be on the lower freeway but we saw other bikes on it.

There were 3 of us on scooters and and we never saw any cops so we lucked out.

In BKK I just ride on the lower surface road underneath the elevated expressways.

Seems reasonably legal as many other bikes are riding under them too.

Google maps would help, just look at the satellite view and you can see if there is a surface street (legal) parallel to the tollway (illegal).

Or just rent a car.

Go to 7-Eleven, buy a local map (around 90baht). Pick one of the smaller roads. Travel until you get to the edge of the map. Find yourself another 7-Eleven and buy another local map.

And if you really want to take the fun out of it, get a GPS :)
