On Tuesday Night, close to the Sukumvit Road traffic lights where it intersects with the Central Pattaya Road, Police and Rescue Services were called-in to assist with a fatal road accident involving a 6-wheel truck full of beer, a white Honda Jazz and a motorbike. The motorbike driver, Khun Somson aged 36 was killed during the crash which began when the motorbike slammed into the rear of the Honda Jazz which was slowing down to approach the junction. The Jazz driver, Khun Kanitar aged 42 explained that the Traffic Light was at red and the motorbike driver appeared not to notice the red light and crashed into the rear of the Jazz. The driver was thrown from the bike and onto the road, into the path of an approaching truck full of beer which ran over him and then came to a halt. Efforts were made by members of the public to lift up the truck so the motorbike driver could be pulled free, but he was pronounced dead-at-the-scene. Furthermore, the truck driver ran away from the scene of the crash before authorities arrived. The truck driver is now being sought by Police as Police investigate the crash further before they decide to charge anyone over the incident.

My condolences to the family and friends of the victim. It only takes a momentary lapse in attention in Thailand for things to go wrong.

I can't help wondering if the people trying to lift the truck were lifting anything else from the truck.

"the truck driver ran away from the scene of the crash before authorities arrived"

Surely the company that owned the 6 wheeler would know who was driving it at the time.

Don't employees have to show a drivers licence or ID before being entrusted with a truck full of beer which could easily be sold off at the local market.

We're not talking about a truck full of dirt here driven by someones cousin on the wife's uncle's side.

edit. spelling.
