NONG KHA: -- Bangkok student was arrested yesterday at the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge checkpoint in Nong Khai's Muang district for smuggling 37,400 ya ba tablets.

After officials found the drugs in two gift boxes and luggage, Sujitra Lertwongjareekul, 22, reportedly confessed that she had smuggled the drugs from Laos to Bangkok twice before in January, in exchange for Bt30,000 and Bt50,000 respectively from a female Thai dealer.

Sujitra claimed she had done it to cover her tuition and other expenses after her parents separated.
