Hi Martin,

Have a butcher's at this Home Office link.

Basically, if your maid has already worked for you for 1 year then there shouldn't be much trouble getting her to the UK. She can then stay for a year at a time, being allowed to remain indefinitely after 4. Once she has indefinite leave she would not be tied to working for your family.

Scouse.

According to info further down their only allowed to stay if you keep employing them? Or am I misunderstanding the wording?

159G. Indefinite leave to remain may be granted, on application, to a domestic worker in a private household provided that:

(i) he has spent a continuous period of 4 years in the United Kingdom employed in this capacity; and

(ii) he has met the requirements of paragraph 159A throughout the 4 year period; and

(iii) he is still required for employment as a domestic worker in a private household, as certified by the current employer.
