U can't just desire a paintshop. U have to ask your insurance company with which shop they dealing with. Intependent paintshop ususally don't take insurance claims, because they get there money not immidently after the job is done and the insurance companies allway try to negotiate the price so cheap, that there is alomost no profit left. Sometime thakes them 90 days to cash the money. Therefore small intepended paintshops aren't interested dealing with insurances.

If you have first class insurance and the car is relatively new, I believe Toyota itself can do the paint work. I did this with my honda, until it reached 5 yrs old. After that, the insurance company has selected paint / repair shops that they deal with. So like stingray said, you can't just choose a paint shop. I assume you don't know who banged into your ride. Use that story. If you know who did the damage then you have to pursue that party for compensation.

My experience with the paint shop was fine (had most of my car repainted due to scratches and dings here and there. However, if you have three scratches to repair, they will now write up three separate claims. Something about a new law that came into force recently. It shouldn't affect you, but you might have to pay a small excess.

I am also led to believe that these garages are making a packet out of the insurance company. I got a fog light replaced, but on the claim the charged 8K for it, when at honda it costs something like 4K. One wheel repair they quoted 2K when at the local chop you would pay 700 baht. We, the customer, aren't affected, but I'm surprised the insurance company doesn't know the market price for these parts.

Cheap and cheerful - Turd pong on Sukhumvit Pattaya near Toyota on the way in ...i think

or Ao udom there's a big, big place there - pricey because they do loads of insurance stuff

Thanks for the replies

@ Stringray - no $hit sherlock! - The last time the truck when in, Toyota in Pattaya couldn't do the for 4 weeks, so it went to an insurance approved body-shop near Chonburi, now as i'm closer to Sattahip i asked the question............

"Anyone care to recommend a bodyshop between Pattaya and Sattahip that do a decent job and takes insurance work"

Why because i don't want to use a shop 50Kms away!

So I'll guess i'll had to get the list of the insurance companies and go have a look see what's nearer to me!
