Immigration In Ubon

Featured Replies

I would like to extend my 60 day Visa to 90 days and then to an O to A visa. Has anyone done this themselves?? What is required by immigration in the form of paperwork? Is it a smooth process or beaucratic??

I believe all the Visa paperwork here has to be done in Phibun Mongsahan, not in Ubon. You just head out of town like you are going to Chang Mek and Phibun is about 50 kilometers. Just head through toen until you get to the T intersection. Turn right and the Immigration office will be immediately on your right.

Yo can extend a tourist visa with 30 days.

To convert to a non-immigrant visa you need at least 21 days left on your permission to stay, so ask right when you do your 30 day extension. You don't ask for an O to A visa. What you will do is ask to convert to a non-immigrant visa based on reason of retirement. For the conversion you need to meet the criteria for a one year extension of stay. (Have an income of 80,000 a month OR have 800,000 in a bankaccount in Thailand OR have a combination of yearly income and money in the bank totaling 800,000).

Not all immigration offices do the conversion. They might send you to Bangkok.

Mario,

Since when did they change the income requirement? It's been 65,000 Baht per month as long as I can remember.
