I am married to a Thai and have been in country now 3 years under a type O non-immigrant visa.

Could you answer please these questions regarding a residence permit:

1)  What is the money/income requirements to obtain one.  Is it the same as to get a one year non-immigrant visa of 200,000baht in a local bank account?

2)  What medical information is required? Is there a physical needed or just a letter from a physician/clinic?

3)  What is the total time period and cost to obtain the permit?

You would preferrably have a work permit, if you have that then the income requrements will be fulfilled. If you don't work in Thailand it should be enough with 200-800K in the Thai bank (no fixed rules here - case by case...)

The medical is same for work permit, a letter from a clinic will do. Sometimes they require a real checkup if you look sick...

If you apply before new year (deadline) the permit will be issued within next year (2003).

The cost is 5,000 Baht in application fee and 52,000 baht when it's ready.

Note that every case is not same, and Immigration can require extra documents in some cases.

I double checked the medical requirements. You must have real checkup at a Government hospital, so it's not sufficent with the standard letter from a clinic.

The fee mentioned above (50,000 Baht) is only 25,000 Baht for foreigner married to Thai citizen.
