Thailand's First Seal In Chiang Mai Zoo

Thailand's first seal in Chiang Mai Zoo

CHIANG MAI: -- Thailand now has its first locally-born 'seal' in the Chiang Mai Zoo in the North.

The seal was born yesterday to a seal couple the Chiang Mai Zoo earlier imported from South Africa, according to local journalists.

Students and the general public are now invited to join in a nationwide contest to name the zoo's new mammal member.

The Chiang Mai Zoo, which is also home of a panda couple from China, 'Xuang Xuang' and 'Lin Huey', as Beijing's animal ambassador to the Thai kingdom, imported three seals from South Africa--- one male and two female.

The Chiang Mai Zoo said it would soon officially announce details of the naming contest for the first Thai seal.
