A Dutch national reported to the Pattaya police on Friday after allegedly being kidnapped and held for a 90,000 Euro ransom by a former friend from Poland.

Pattaya, the 16th of April 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 3:30am on Friday, police lieutenant Colonel Phatsa Detphakkul (Pattaya Police Investigator) received notification from a Dutch national, Mr. William Peter Alexander [41], regarding his alleged kidnapping by a former friend and Polish citizen.

Mr. Alexander reported to police explaining that he had been kidnapped and held for ransom by Mr. Robert Stirring [36] from Poland along with two other unknown foreign men. Allegedly whilst eating at the Royal Garden Plaza McDonalds on Pattaya Beach Road, Mr. Alexander was approached by Mr. Stirring who was offering to repay some money that he owed. Following Mr. Stirring to his car, parked in front of the Welcome Plaza on Pattaya 2nd Road, Mr. Alexander was accosted and bundled into the car by two armed foreign men before being blindfolded, gagged and driven to an unknown location.

so how did he get free?
Arriving at the location, Mr. Stirring demanded Mr. Alexander pay the three men a total of 90,000 Euro or be killed. Mr. Alexander informed police that he was allowed to contact relatives in Holland who had subsequently transferred the requested amount of money to an unidentified bank account in the Netherlands. The three men, fortunately for Mr. Alexander, released him at which point he immediately went to police.

The details are in the article.

Such natty dressers, must be the new quality tourists we keep hearing about.

:)

Most likely a case of one set of thugs stealing from another. I say give'em each a gun and let them settle it at 12 paces.

Both gentlemen in the photo dont appear to bothered by the looks of things, not exactly competent villians it appears..

At least no jokes on the polish mastermind and his henchmen as yet. As mentioned, may be more to this story. Certainly appears to be a unique escape plan after a kidnapping,(hang around town for a while).

Kidnapped him for 90,000 Baht? And then they stayed in Pattaya...and were just walking down the street? Are these guys crazy?

If you're going to do something as serious as kidnapping, you are a fool to just ask for 90,000 Baht. I figure at least 2 million would be more like it. And then to hang around the place after the person you kidnapped is released. Now, that is silly. I don't expect I will ever kidnap anyone, but I'd make sure they had a lot more than 90,000 Baht to pay as a ransom. And I'd be long gone five minutes after I released that person.

About 1979 or 1980, a guy I knew was kidnapped and held prisoner for about 3 weeks. He was drugged and held without food or water until he would transfer a large amount of money from his bank in Hong Kong to his kidnappers. I don't remember the amount but it was at least 100,000 dollars equivalent. The bank manager in Hong Kong knew this guy, and notified the Hong Kong police when he got the request to transfer the money to Bangkok. The bank manager said that ===== had never asked for that much money to be transferred anywhere before, so he knew right away that something must be wrong. Apparently ===== was known as being very tight with his money. The bank manager set up a telephone call with ===== to arrange the details of how the money would be transferred. The kidnappers were stupid enough to take that phone call in the place where they were holding =====. The Thai police traced the international call and rescued my friend =====. He had left Phuket for Bangkok for a 2 or 3 day trip to take care of some business affairs in Bangkok (he had a Thai business that he was a partner in), and had been gone for 3 weeks. His Thai girlfriend said she had,"Just never noticed he was missing". My friend immeadiately kicked her out of his house once he got back to Phuket. Apparently he just didn't believe that she "had just never noticed" he was gone.

I am not really surprised, sadly we get a lot of low life foreigner scumbags in LOS, drug dealing, blue movies and also kidnapping. These people must be desparete to do the things they do just in order to stay here.

As an old saying goes, you lay as you made the bed.

Enjoy B&B in BKK Hilton boys

Something doesn't sound right here, if they really kidnapped him they would have fled the country immediately.

You are assuming mafia style kidnap for profit.....this was a freind remember so it seems like it wan not really a well planned crime.

This sounds like just the M.O. for meth tweekers. They cooked up a plan while high, executed it, and as soon as soon as they got the money they bought pills with it and hid out in thier hotel too paraniod to go outside
