Help Needed - Thai g/f Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a question which I hope someone can answer, I am in the UK with my Thai girlfriend who is on a six months visitor visa. We were both planning on returning back to Thailand in October.

However we have just found out that my girlfriend is pregnant, great news, but now we are left with a time issue. We both want to have the baby in the UK, but we need to return in october as the visa expires. This doesn't leave enough time to get another visa and return due to flying restrictions etc.

Is there anything anyone can suggest, returning early and trying to change the visa etc? Talking to anyone in the UK to get an extension or something.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Scott.

Hi Scottibarrow,

IND has the discretion to grant an extention for medical purposes but there is no guarantee that such an application would be successful and, to be honest, pregnancy is not normally considered to be a reason why someone couldn't leave the UK (providing that they're not near full term). If you want your child to be born in the UK it may be better for your g/f to return to Thailand now and apply for another visa. Also, be aware that if she's in the UK as a visitor she is not entitled to free NHS treatment and if the hospital/doctor picks up on this, you may find yourself with a big bill.

Best of luck,

Scouse.
