Motorcycle Rider Killed in Rear-End Collision with Parked Lorry in Lampang
Picture from responders.CCTV below. An incident occurred in Lampang province when a motorcycle crashed into the rear of a parked lorry, resulting in the death of the rider. The incident took place at around 11:20 on January 20, on the Phalad-Mae Mo Road, just before the Phalad intersection, in the Phra Bat Subdistrict of Mueang Lampang District. According to the report from the Lampang Provincial Police, a motorcycle, identified as a red and black Honda Wave, collided with the rear of a stationary 18-wheeler lorry. The rider, later identified as Mr. Phadungsak, 44, from the Nakhrua Subdistrict of Mae Tha District, was found lifeless at the scene. His head and face were severely injured, and he was surrounded by a pool of blood. A black helmet was found approximately three metres from his body. The lorry, which had been parked along the road, was driven by Mr. Apinan, who explained that he had just delivered goods and stopped to take a break. The motorcycle was found wedged into the back of the parked vehicle, with significant damage to the front. Preliminary investigations suggest that the motorcyclist may have been returning home after a long shift. It is believed that he was travelling at high speed and failed to brake in time upon noticing the lorry parked in his path, resulting in the fatal collision. The body has been taken to Lampang Hospital and the authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision. -- 2025-01-21 Caution CCTV shows the collision.
