Border crossings

Featured Replies

For members information, there is now an official border crossing into Kampuchea at Chong Chom in Surin Province. The crossing is approximately 70 km south of Surin and similar to Aranyapratet without most of the hassle.

Thanks for the info. If you have any more info in detail, I will add it to the "Visa run" pages. Thanks!

The Chong Chom Khmer border crossing has now been used by a few friends:

1. To "renew" a 30 day tourist visa is similar to the Aranyapratet crossing but less busy and with fewer beggars. The Khmer visa costs Bht 1,200.00 for some inexplicable reason (Bht 1,000.00 should be the normal price) and an extra Bht 100.00 when leaving Kampuchea if your stay is not overnight.

2. The above also applies to persons holding a one year multi-entry visa and require to renew their 90 day stay visa.

3. Anyone holding a one year retirement or married visa cannot leave through Chong Chom without loosing that visa and re-entering on a 30 day tourist visa. This is because Chong Chom immigration have not yet the facilities (or knowledge) to issue re-entry permits, whatever the Kap Chung immigration officers may say. We are told that this will be rectified in the "near" future.

I will provide any further information as and when I obtain it.
