Mobile Phone Unlocking On The Sukhimvit

Featured Replies

Hi All

I'll be arriving in BKK on Saturday week (15th) Volcano ash cloud and protests allowing. I was wondering if there is a mobile phone shop that will unlock western phones near the Landmark Hotel. I rather not have to head to MBK, Pantip etc if possible.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Jim

Ps. I did search thru the forum first but most advice was to head to MBK

There are two shops on the groud floor of Nana Square about 400 meters away that should be able to oblige.

Your best bet is to buy the unlock code off eBay. They sell anywhere for $2 to $10 depending on the model and carrier it is locked to. Once they give you the code (based on the IMEI and carrier the phone is locked to) it is a simple process to enter the code into your phone and permanently unlock it. The clowns here that do it can damage your phone and they often charge farangs way more than it is worth to do. I have unlocked over twenty phones from eBay codes including BlackBerry, LG, Motorola, Samsung and Nokia.

Agree with "jackbox". I did it for the BlackBerry of my daughter. No problem at all and very easy...

FORTUNE CITY mall is similar to Pantip and is directly above the Rama 9 subway (MRT) stop. Many phone shops there, 2nd and 3rd floors.

The MRT is running with no problems.
