Dealing With Tat

Featured Replies

I have had my business here now 14 years. Had the deposit with TAT of 10k for most of that time but about a year ago(can't really remember the circumstances) we had to deposit 100k with them. Had something to do with having a website or something but don't remember how or why they found out. Anyway we paid the 100k. But in order to get the 10k refunded they say we have to go to Phuket to get it. Has anyone else had dealings with TAT in regards this deposit and getting it back. I find it rather archaic if this is the only way of getting a refund. The deposit has been made under my company name and I can provide bank account details to them under exactly the same name. Can't really see how it is worthwhile travelling all the way to Phuket, driving or flying, staying a night, all for about nil Baht in the end.

Can you tell more why TAT wanted money because of a website you had? Are you inferring that if you advertise tourism in Thailand TAT want a fee? Surely not but TIT ...

Yes they do, but it is not a fee, rather a security bond towards the protection of your customers.

This bond is fully refundable when you close down your business.

I think at the moment 50,000 Baht for domestic travel (Thai language website only), and 100,000 Baht for foreign inbound travel.
