Cougars and toy boys 'a deadly match'

HAVING a toy boy husband increases a woman's chances of an early death, according to a new study.

And the younger her spouse is, the harder it is on a woman's health, research carried out in Germany says.

However the trend is reversed when an older man opts for a younger woman. The more youthful his wife, the longer the husband is expected to live, Britain's Daily Mail reported today.

The finding will come as a blow growing numbers of "cougars" - middle-aged women who shun older men in search of younger guys.

Celebrity cougars include US actress Demi Moore, 47, who is 15 years older than actor husband Ashton Kutcher, and Friends star Courteney Cox, who is married to actor David Arquette - seven years her junior.

The trend was identified by an analysis of marriage and death records belonging to almost two million Dutch men and women, the Daily Mail said.

A woman who bags a man seven to nine years younger than her is 20 per cent more likely to die at any given point than someone married to a man her own age. And when a cougar weds someone more than 15 years younger than her, the risk soars to more than 30 per cent.

Sven Drefahl of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Germany, said: "The greater the age difference, the lower the wife's life expectancy. The best choice for a woman is to marry a man of exactly the same age."

A "sugar daddy" with a wife seven to nine years his junior is seven per cent less likely to die at any given time - probably because she's more likely to nurse him in old age.

By contrast, a younger man tends to be less inclined to look after his elderly wife. And cougars are more likely to be seen as predatory - making it less likely for them to maintain friends and dependents, another factor researchers suggested could explain their findings.

Ah, but what a way to go :D

:) never understood the cougar thing tbh. Boys are nice to look at but I wouldn't really want to play with one.

As the saying goes, you're only as old as the woman you feel...

Yeah, rite. :D

I believe ya, sum wont.

BTW: My bride to be is heaps younger than I............... :D

The dying part I find a little hard to believe. I think someone started out with an agenda and then tried to prove it. Yah, if it means the "cougar" suddenly starts taking up danger sports like mountain climbing, sky diving, stunt driving, motorcycle racing, bull fighting, etc, with her younger boyfriend then I might agree with the study. Otherwise I says it's BS.

As far as I know, Demi Moore and Courteney Cox are still alive and enjoying life.

When someone stops enjoying life is the day they start dying.

For now :)

Bah doesnt make sense. Die of what exactly? Old age? Oh wait..its because the young guys wont nurse the cougar..whereas young girls will nurse the grandpa? Ok..i get it if thats the case. Im not interested in boys either, but im also not interested in someone vastly older than me. I realise some guys are full of zest well into their old age, but id rather risk being a cougar, as id worry id die of boredom with a much older man.

Don't knock it till you've tried it eek.

Better to fly once with an eagle than ten times with a sparrow. :)

Haha..you might be right Scea! :)

I'm with eek, young may be nice to look at but really, thats all. No experience is not necessarily made up for with enthusiasm :)

That said, if I were looking I wouldn't go for someone vastly older than myself either, I wouldn't want them to die of a heart attack and while I dont find guys young enough to be my son appealing, neither do I find men old enough to be my father appealing either.

A lot of the pleasure is visual. Lads and lasses are nice to look at...hard bodies, smooth skin, bursting health....

The bottom line is that eventually you have to talk to them.

Why ? :)

Good manners dictates it. You can only ignore them for so long.

True

But surely when the time comes to speak to it, it must be time to trade it in for a new one ?

"Short time or long?" she asks.

"How much?" says he.

That ain't much of a conversation. I could probably manage that okay in Thai. :)
