Dear All,

Is there somebody who know if a VGT/VGN turbo able to be put in a standard version 2KD-FTV? I would like to try to change my original turbo with the new VGT/VGN turbo in my TOYOTA INNOVA D4D 2KD-FTV engine.

Thanks

you also need the VN ECU if you want more power, and the VN turbo is connected to electric system. Complicated

Why not just buy a racechips.de at 10-13k baht to get more power without replacing anything on the engine? more power than 2,5 VN.

Dear transam & katabeachbum,

Thanks A lot for Your replies.

One of my goal is trying to get rid of the turbo lag. From a stop position the car seems to be very heavy to move. When the turbo kicks in then it will be ok, but in a traffic jam, the lag is unbearable for me.

I heard that the VGT/VGN turbo give much better bottom torque, does any of You Guys know about this?

Also, I forgot to mention that my car is A/T. I have a question in my mind that maybe the design of the transmission is intentionally to have some lag to give less jerk when accelerating and also to prolong the transmission life. Does anyone knows about this?

Thanks

a VN turbo is able to give better bottom tourque, higher peak tourque and higher hp.

my 2010 Vigo 3,0 4x4 auto has a VN turbo. the hp/tourque spec is identical to previous 3,0 non VN, due to using the same ECU in LOS. so there is no noticable change in performance. only different turbo noise

chipsing your present engine by increasing pressure will give more tourque from 1000 rpm to 3400 rpm, and should reduce turbo lag.

do you have an intercooler, and if so is it positined on top of engine or in front of radiators. top of engine reduces turbolag, since hoses/pipes/ducts are much shorter

katabeachbum - I already install an aftermarket intercooler but not the top mount design. Some experienced people also said that the piping in the aftermarket intercooler is not properly calculated and seems to be very long. Do You know somebody in Thailand who is able to provide the VGN/VGT Turbo for sale? I would like to try to buy if it is possible. I would like to buy all the necessary components for it. Btw, at the moment I already use HKS F-CON D and Greedy Boost Controller, the mid to high range is much better but the low-end is still terrible.. :D

transam - I already try to contact with RaceChip and waiting for the reply at the moment. Thanks for the info Bro.. :)

Maybe you can try throttle controller. Lots of Thai brands available, lag free response. Doesn't alter the ECU signal, etc, just a change of signal from the throttle position (pedal) sensor. Prices range from 9000 to 12000BHT. Some boxes look flimsy but works the same.

I have the new Bosch turbo which is supose to help at all ranges. I cannot tell that it is helping at low rpm. At about 2K it really starts to help. I would drive one first to see if you will be satisfied. The salesman went on and on about this feature. But i really cannot tell the differeence.

No, have not tried a race chip. I will look into it.

Have you fitted a Racechip or similar ?

when I think of it, the 2,5 VN has peak tourque approx 340 Nm at 2000rpm, while the 3,0 (both VN due to restricted ECU in LOS and 2004-2009 older turbo) has 340Nm from 1400 to 3400 Nm. VN Euro IV ECU has 411 Nm from 1400-3400 :)

so I guess turbo lag is hard to avoid on japs 2,5. Nissan has the same prob on 2,5, both 144 and 177 hp.
