Dennis Hopper

oh,...me an' one of de pals from de gorilla/guerilla love in...

from the obit looks like James Dean would have attended as well except for the Porche incident...

I saw that Hopper had died of prostate cancer. A great actor who had sporadic success with his films. Not bad for a boy from Dodge City Kansas

maybe he was the originator of the term to 'get outta Dodge' as in to flee...

Thad check out the BBC and others to see the obit; folks knew he was dyin' and the obit writers were lickin' their chops: the last of the Hollywood bad boys of a previous generation...the obit I saw described his relationship with James Dean and his influence on his acting style: 'don't act like yer drinkin' whisky, fcukin' drink the mother then act...'

his menace as Frank Booth in Blue Velvet is unforgettable...I cringed as he reminded me of a high school bully I once knew; I knew that the only way for peace to be restored was for this bastid to die...but I didn't have the balls to kill him...it was almost like an ongoing challenge; 'yew don't like me? whaddaya gonna dew aboudit???'

I believe that in Cool Hand Luke he was referred to as Babalouba as in 'Hey, Babalouba, we got a bet over here...' ol' Harry Dean Stanton was also there, strummin' the guitar and singin' hymms as Luke suffered brutality from the screws...earlier, George Kennedy who received an Oscar for his performance as a fellow prisoner appeared in Lonely are the Brave....as a brutal jail warder...

I remember leaving the theater after watching Easy Rider in 1969...I wanted to kill people and to do damage...

I liked him as the Deacon in Waterworld.

But then I liked Waterworld, so what do I know?

So did I.

So neither of us should apply for a job as a film-critic?

Or maybe we can open up a whole new field of feet-on-ground, tell-the=truth movie comment?

Make that three of us.

Waterworld!! IMO it was just an attempt to copy Mad Max (Road Warrior) but with a bit of water added.

Even Kevin Costner, the star, who was also one of the major creditors thought it was a load of crap and would never go into a similar venture again. The original floating city which sank during production is probably still on the seafloor somewhere of Phuket.

Dennis Hopper was one of my favourites despite his role in WW.

I'll bet you didn't like The Postman either. :)

Did anyone? Seriously now, did anyone?

In a late night segment on Hopper, he claimed to have had an affair with Natalie Woods. Lucky man if true, and it probably was.

I'm glad you told me this, because if it ever cam up in Charades I would have made a fool of myself and answered Rabbit.

Before or after she drowned?

Yeah, my kids looked like him as well...

I've always had a weakness for bad movies, something vulnerable about them....

Red Sonja, Judge Dread, Kangaroo Jack, Cat Woman.

OK, OK, I'LL CONFESS!!!!!

I even watched Heaven's Gate again the other day.

OMG.. now that was a bad one.

Now "Somewhere in Time" Starring Superman and The Medicine Woman is so bad, that here in HK they re-show it every year.

hey, I thought that the roller skating scene in Heaven's Gate was spot on...but, I can watch anything with Isabel Huppert square in the frame indefinitely...

once when in despair over separating with my partner of 8 1/2 years I listened to the sentimental theme from Heaven's Gate repeatedly, awash with Smirnoff and tears...

Dennis Hopper, Natalie Wood and Water World. There's a connection there somewhere.....

RIP Dennis.

They named a big orange bouncy thing after him in the seventies.............I had one

Here's another one.
