Hospitals

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have been handed a form at work and asked to provide my preferred hospitals. It is a social medical scheme type thing, I think.... sort of "government" related..... based on the (exorbient) amount of tax that I pay I guess?!?!?!?

Anyway - does anyone have experience in filling this form out? I live in the Prawet area, however my (thai) Mrs. seems to think that we should choose a hospital group rather than a specific hospital - for example "bangkok hospital" - because they have branches nationwide sort of thing.......

Any thoughts, suggestions, or experience would be really apprecaited.

Thanks in advance..........

If it is the government health insurance, not all private hospitals accept it.

Verify if this is what it is and if so contact the following for a list of hospitals:

National Health Security Office Homepage v1.0.1.3 update 26/08/2552

National Health Security Office (NHSO)

The Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary 5th December, B.E.2550 (2007)

120 Moo 3 Chaengwattana Road, Lak Si District, Bangkok 10210

Tel : 66 2 141 4000

Fax : 66 2 143 9730

My employer suggested the nearest hospital to the place of work, shame it was Yanhee.

"...based on the (exorbient) amount of tax that I pay I guess?!?!?!?"

Social Security will cost you a maximum of 750 baht per month. You consider that exorbitant?

Not every hospital is in the soc sec system. Not even all government hospital.

You'll be assigned one hospital to use. There are situations where you can use other hospital, but for all intents and purposes you use the one they assign you. It sounds like they'll let you choose, which is not always the case.

I'd suggest picking a hospital near where you live or work. If it doesn't work out, they allow you to change once a year.

The soc sec office should be able to tell you which hospitals are available in your area.

Thanks everyone.

Terry - 750 baht - no, not exorbient ..... but the 60,000+ Baht in taxes that I pay is - I suppose its not fair to group it all under the one heading ...... but anyway...... thats another days dicussion :)

So, I guess I'll pick the hospital nearest my house, that supports the scheme.

Thanks everyone
