Thappraya/Jomtien 2nd Road the “Seven Lifetimes Road”

PATTAYA: -- The continuing state of affairs along the Thappraya/Jomtien 2nd Road has left local residents branding the transport artery “The Seven Lifetime Road,” referencing to the amount of time that it is taking contractors and administrators to complete the development.

Pattaya, the 11th of June 2010 [PDN]: Having covered the story of Thappraya/Jomtien 2nd roads on many an occasion, Pattaya Daily News has still been unable to get a clear answer out of Pattaya City Hall administrators as to when the development is likely to be finished. Budget increases are thought to have been approved in regards to the development, yet land acquisition issues are still largely being trumpeted as the reason for the delays.

Cracks, holes and depressions are a common sight along the Thappraya Road, recently branded as ‘finished’ despite the presence of construction materials, pipe-work and an uncompleted traffic island running up the middle. Aside from the already evident drainage issues, the new roads inability to cater for the increased traffic flow from Pratamnak and Thepprasit Roads still sees heavy congestion in peak hours.

We in Chiang Mai can relate with you on this one. Our so called Super Highway was so far over budget with kick backs and graft for 4 years of delay it took a military cue to get our bottleneck completed. :)

Is it nearly 4 years since they started?

On the last stretch of "finished road" between the Pratamnak junction and Pan Pan which is about a month old, there are large cracks and holes in the road. In fact the Pratamnak junction has already been redone 3 times and after the rain we've had it needs to be redone again - a disgrace!

The paving on that same stretch is currently under way. Opposite the courthouse entrance, they have just put some sand with the paving on top, with nothing to hold the bank, so after last night's rain yesterday's paving is already sliding down the bank. All totally shoddy, useless, waste of time and money.
