Private Investigation Prevails in Bt50,000 Pattaya Theft Case

PATTAYA: -- A young woman, who had been robbed of Bt50,000 in cash by a devious friend, has successful led police to arrest the offender on Tuesday morning. The arrest followed a 6-month private investigation undertaken by the victim and her sister.

Pattaya, the 22nd of June 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 6:00am on Tuesday, Captain Narongdet Tanaphoonsin (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified by a Miss Uthaiwan Phusa [19] of a citizen’s arrest having taken place at the Eurasia Serviced Residence in Soi Yensabai, South Pattaya.

Miss Phusa explained to investigating officers that she had been robbed of Bt50,000 from her ATM by the detained suspect Miss Phatchramai Wisetnork [30]. Allegedly Miss Wisetnork was a former friend who had stolen the victims Kasikorn ATM card in January of 2010 before proceeding to withdraw Bt50,000 baht from the account, having known the pin number.

On the date of the incident, the 6th of January 2010, Miss Phusa reported the incident to the Pattaya Police and the Kasikorn Bank, finding out that the offender was her friend. Accordingly the woman had withdrawn the money in five separate transactions at five different ATM machines around Pattaya and had been identified via the CCTV cameras positioned at each location.
