Hi Everyone, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am maried to a Thai lady for 4 years, upto now I have always got a Non O marriage based visa from the UK each year. I was hoping this time NOT to return to the Uk but perhaps get a new Non O from Penang, as I have read a very positive thread here about doing that. The other option as I understand it based on information posted here is get an extension ? now, I have never done this before and would like to know what it is exactly and what I need to do to get one, is it easier/better to do this or easier/better to just stick with the Non O as I have in previous years. I dont have 400k + in the bank and could only supply bank statements for proof of income/savings. My current 12 month visa expired at the end of June but I went out and back in before expiration and I am stamped upto the end of July.

Hopefully I have given you enough info to respond accurately but if you need more let me know. Thanks again.

The 12 month extension is preferable if you qualify.

It is cheaper and you do not have to leave the country every 90 days.

You would need a letter from the British Embassy verifying an income of 40,000 Baht a month if from outside Thailand.

If from inside Thailand you need Tax receipts as proof.

If there is any reason to believe work is involved in this income chain I would not want to be opening that can or worms without a work permit. This may not be a factor in your case but readers do need to be aware of possible issues.

If you can not extend KL is considered the most reliable at issue of a multi entry but they do require 100k in a bank account be shown. There are very few current reports from Penang and they have often been less than reliable in recent years.

I dont know what you mean by "income chain" but to clarify my income comes via the UK, NOT Thailand and a WP is not required and as no one has answered regarding "how to qualify" for extension I dont know if i can extend or not as yet or even if I have enough time as I know absolutely nothing about the process.

Being new here I am rather confused, there is what appears to be good information available and yet contradictions everywhere too and some of the information can be up to 8 years old (and more).I would just like some current information and guidance please.

You can extend, don't panic. These Guys will be along with the info for sure.

If you're Married and have an income of 40,000 baht per month from outside Thailand (I.e. UK) then its relatively simple.

The Embassy /consolate will sort you out a 'proof of income letter' . Bank statements, printed Via online banking have worked for me in the past. Showing monthly income, or indeed yearly income such as Dividends etc. They'll divide the yearly income by 12 , giving your total monthly income if necessary. You'll need to do it in the next few weeks though. Have a look in the pinned section. All the info's there anyway.

Excellent.........thanks very much!

This question pops up regular, The info will be here somewhere.

Are you near your Immigration office, if so pop down with your wife and get it from the Horses mouth. They all seem to want a little bit different stuff, photo's etc, but the really important things are the same. Get your application form at the same time. You've only got a few weeks so go and see them. You can generally get a letter from the embassy or consolate the next day.

You'll definately need Original Marriage Certificate, certified translation if foreign,
