When purchasing a used car from a private party, if the buyer has only a tourist visa and a letter of residence, and the seller resides in a different part of LOS, what are the necessary steps to be taken and what documents are required by the govt. in order to complete a transfer of title?

Did it myself, not difficult, took all paperwork in, [sellers copy i.d paperwork for selling a car] NOTE: You go 1st to the you local office and get the transfer paper, as the Seller has to sign this paper.. [every office has there own headed paper]..

I was told to drive the car to the inspection, full test done, all the car Numbers put on sheet of paper and then signed, back to the Office with this paper, paid the money and was told to go back in 7 days. They kept all the paperwork + Blue book.

7 days later went back, they had the new number plates [my local Provence] had to take off the old plates and tax disc, they gave me the new numbers, had to then buy new tax for this number, received the blue book back with my name in it, it was all done and waiting.

NOTE: Take a screw driver, as you must take off the old numberplate's yourself.

Thanks for the excellent tips!

(especially having a copy of the transfer paper from my local office 'and' then a screw driver! - Thanks!)
