Which Is More Expensive To Live?..

Featured Replies

Can someone tell me if the cost of living is more affordable in Chiang Mai or in Hua Hin? I'm considering a move to one of the two,and would appreciate some insight.

Thanks much!

Mel

I'm about to move from CMai (after two years) and go to Hua Hin. I don't know. I suspect they're close. They're both big magnets for tourists and expatriates. I suspect they're both a lot cheaper than Bangkok but more expensive than.....Khon Kaen, Mae Hong Son and Korat?

From what I saw (in CM for 3 weeks; HH for 5 days) about the same cost of living if you are renting. CM has more infrastructure. Also, HH was hotter than CM. I checked on Condo's and houses in HH (to buy) and they were higher compared to CM. Also, there are many more BG's to chose from in CM if that is on your wish list. CM (downtown) has a bit of air pollution......but not as bad as Bangkok.

I was originally looking at HH as my place to retire after searching on the internet. But after spending 2 months in Thailand I'm looking at CM or Chiang Rai.

Like everything else.....it depends on what you as individual are looking for. I have a Thai GF (met her in Udon) and I'm looking to settle down with her.
