Hi we have a edimax router with our TOT broadband connection and speed is often very slow on international connections. If i upgrade to a newer more powerfull router (current one is about 5 years old it came with the package) would that speed things up a bit? Any ideas/ Also has anyone tried 3b ot cat hinet are they any better?

Upgrading the router will not improve browsing speeds, but switching to a different internet provider might. A new router may help improve connection stability, but that's about it.

It's your ISP (TOT) that's the problem, not the modem/router itself.

Thanks for that can any one suggest a better suplier as whenever i read stuff on this website no one seems happy with their speed. has anyone done any research as to who has the fastest international connection speeds?

^ What else is new? Seriously though, there aren't many choices to choose from. Some will say True is best, while others swear by 3BB, or even TOT.

As a longtime JI-NET customer, I'd have to say their ADSL service is second to none. Unfortunately, 2Mbps is the highest speed package they offer for home users. It may not be the fastest in the world, but it's reliable -- which to me matters most. What good is a 10mb or 16mb connection when it's unusable half the time? <deleted> that, no thanks. If you have a TOT line and do a lot of browsing to websites outside Thailand (like myself), it might be worth your while to try the service.

Couldn't agree more about JI-NET (now JASNET) as I had a 2Mb BizConnext package with them for about 14 months. This was on a TOT line. 99.99% uptime reliability and I got 1.7Mb speed in-Thailand and usually 1.7Mb international. The BizConnext package had a 10 to 1 contention/user ratio compared to much higher user ratios used by most ISP's with their home packages. However the package was a little pricey at 1890 Baht (plus 7% VAT)...it came with a static IP address and 3 email addresses. They now have a 3Mb and 4Mb BizConnext package at 2500 and 2800 Baht, respectively (includes VAT I thing)...but these packages are not listed on their web site. You need to call their office for these packages. http://www.jasnet.co.th/home/index.php They have other packages too that might be available depending on the company providing the phone line.

I'm now on the TOT 4Mb/512Kb package for about 4 months now...been working fine...99.99% uptime (knock on wood)...get 1-2 Mb international speed and 3.5Mb in Thailand at 590 Baht/month.
