HP notebook, about 4 years old, running Windows XP.

I want to use the Bluetooth to connect to my phone to back up the phonebook.

When I tried to start Bluetooth it did not work, so I reloaded the drivers,

and was told that No Bluetooth device was detected on the Laptop.

Now I know there is one, as I played with it when I first bought the laptop.

I went to my local dealer, and all they could suggest was Format,

it seems to be the standard approach to all problems in this country. :bah:

I am reluctant to take this step and do not believe it will solve the problem,

which may simply be that the Bluetooth hardware has died on me.

Has anyone had similar experiences?

How did you cure the problem?

Thanks

Hi,

Some Phones need to be "discoverable" ..... You can check Phone settings if this is an option.

Turn on discoverable then recheck notebook

Also some HP laptops have physical switch [usually under front of laptop' turning on/off bluetooth and turning on/off internet

Other than that,

I would be lost.

Hope it helps,

The phone is Ok and can see and communicate with other phones.

There is a switch for Wireless, but not for Bluetooth.

That point set me thinking.

I turned on the wireless the went to the icon at the bottom of the screen

and found I could turn on the Bluetooth. :D

It is now showing as working. Thanks. :jap:
