Forgot To Report In

Featured Replies

I just checked my passport and i was supposed to do a 90 day reporting on June 11. Does this mean i will get hit with the full 5000 Baht fine?

If so it worth just waiting a few more months to make the most of this money? Is there any different between reporting in say 1 month late, or 8 months late?

2,000 Baht fine.

How did you get to 2000baht (based on how many days over)? I says max 5000 on the paper?

5,000 plus 200 each day late is the maximum and usually only applied if you are arrested for it.

The usual fine for owning up to being late is 2,000 Baht.

This is from the Immigration website.

* The notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days is in no way equivalent to a visa extension.

* If a foreigner staying in the kingdom over 90 days without notifying the Immigration Bureau or notifying the Immigration Bureau later than the set period, a fine of 2,000.- Baht will be collected. If a foreigner who did not make the notification of staying over 90 days is arrested, he will be fined 4,000.- Baht.

* If a foreigner leaves the country and re-enters, the day count starts at 1 in every case.

* For details contact 0-2141-7881

2,000 is the normal fine if you forget.

4/5,000 may be charged if you are arrested or run off at the mouth.

Expect plus 200 baht a day might be charged if you refuse to pay but have not seen any reports on this yet.

Thanks. Is there any difference between paying the 2000 baht now or waiting a few more months? (Would it have any bearing on my visa renewal next year)?

Why not just report in on time ,its not rocket science to know when you have to do a 90 day report.its even stamped on the slip.

Why run the risk of being arrested ? GET IT SORTED!

You could be stopped at anytime for a routine check and arrested, likewise of you had an accident etc so why push your luck any further.

How do you figure that if you go through a stop check that they know you never signed in? If the OP is talking about going to the Immigration office for the regular 90 day sign in there is nothing in your passport that shows these stop check cops if you did or didnt sign in. I have been here 10 years and can tell you one thing; If you never sign in in the first place there is NO record of this. My dad was here for his last 4 years of life on a retirement visa and I simply did not sign him in after awhile. They dont know. Its not on computer records. Just rip that piece of paper out of your passport and go in for your next "sign in date" if you want. When they ask where the paper is just shrug your shoulders like they do and say "mai roo".

After spending 7am to 3pm in immigration to just get my renewal, and then being told I had to go get a new ticket (was my second ever renewal) to report in, seeing the longest Q in the history of Britain extending out of that little reporting-in room, I made the very deliberate decision to swiftly bugger off. So i'm in the same boat and will gladly pay 2000 or even 5000 in exchange for not having to have spent all day in that purgatory.

The fact is 90 day reports have been entered into a computer data base since the days the one stop center was located on Ratchada (it has moved twice since then). You are also expected to keep a copy of the receipt in your passport. That enforcement has not been Draconian is true - but for how long? I would not advise playing games with this requirement.

Section 76 : Any alien, alien, who fails to comply with the provisions of Section 37(2),(3),(4)or(5) shall be

punished with a fine not exceeding 5,000 Baht and with and additional fine not exceeding 200 Baht for

each day which passes until the law is complied with.

I was 30 days late in reporting and charged 2000 Baht, it can be up to 5000 Baht. Not sure where you are, but if you are on Samui they will get the max. out of you. Good luck. :shock1:

Thank you for the simplistic answer. Some of us have better thing to do than look at our Passports every day to see when we have to report again.

Cheers.

SIMPLY have your email calendar send you a reminder a few days before report day. That works pretty well for those who have only a 24 hour memory.
